Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Around 22 girls make up the 2018 version of the Scott City Lady Beaver tennis squad. While there are three returning varsity players from a year ago, it is still a fairly young squad. Only one senior returns in Yami Sanchez.

The Lady Beavers dropped back down to Class 3-2-1A in 2017, and took its lumps. While they did not qualify anyone for state last season, this year’s squad is poised to take the next step and make it to the state tournament.

For a second straight year, Scott City will find out where they are right out of the gates. In fact, it is in about 10 days when they head to Wichita for the Collegiate Invitational to start the season, and the season is jam packed for about six weeks.

Cheryl Kucharik is the Lady Beaver head coach, while Steve Kucharik and Shandi Westergard is new to the coaching staff.
