Kobach issues statement on illegal aliens following death of Mollie Tibbetts

Police recovered the body of college student Mollie Tibbetts in an Iowa cornfield and today, charged an illegal alien in connection with her murder.

Kansas Secretary of State and candidate for governor Kris Kobach said, “I was saddened and outraged to hear of Mollie Tibbetts’s death at the hands of an illegal alien. Crime is one of the many reasons I’ve been fighting illegal immigration all of my career and will continue to do so as Governor. Every crime committed by an illegal alien is a crime that should never have occurred and would never have occurred if the illegal alien were not in our country. Kansans have suffered similar tragic consequences at the hands of illegal aliens.”

An illegal alien killed Johnson County Sheriff’s Master Deputy Brandon Collins in a drunk-driving, hit-and-run incident in 2016. In 2007, Amanda Bixby, a 19-year-old Tonganoxie woman, was killed when an illegal alien failed to stop at a stop sign.

“All too often, illegal immigration has tragic consequences,” Kobach said. “Meanwhile, liberal progressives like Greg Orman are advocating for amnesty, and liberal progressives like Laura Kelly are encouraging illegal aliens to stay in Kansas by giving them in-state tuition rates at taxpayer expense. As Governor, I will take steps to discourage illegal immigration in Kansas. My reforms will make Kansas communities safer.”
