Kitty Kathleen Wright
Kitty Kathleen Wright, 75, died March 19, 2017 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. She was born on September 27, 1941 in Winfield, the daughter of Thadeus LeRoy and Versie V. (Davis) Kelley.
Kitty spent her childhood in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1959. On July 16, 1960, she was united in marriage to Everett A. Wright in Winfield. He survives. After their marriage, they moved to Udall then in 1969 to Ensign. In 1985, they moved to Montezuma. Kitty was an administrative assistant for New Chance, Inc. of Dodge City. She and Everett also traveled the craft show circuit for many years, making many homemade decorations to sell. Kitty loved to crochet and has made many special afghans for her children and grandchildren. She also loved attending activities of her children and grandchildren.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Ensign, where she often played the piano and sang in the choir, and attended the Montezuma United Methodist Church. She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Ensign.
In addition to her husband Everett, Kitty is survived by five children, Janet Unruh and husband Marshall of Copeland, Vickie Hayden and husband Lance of Wichita, Cheryl Wright of Montezuma, Warren Wright and wife Kamela of Montezuma, and Eric Wright of Montezuma; ten grandchildren, Justin (Chandell), Sean (Paige), Tonya (Gerran), Kayla (Joshua), Travis (Bailey), Desiree (Brent), Brice (Alyssa), Cory, Collin (Taylor), and Whitney (Jason); eight great grandchildren, Tiana, Slade, Caden, Braylee, Hayden, Hudson, Rhett, and Everly and new great granddaughter Noah who will arrive in May; sister Isabelle Motley of Carthage, Missouri. She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Jean and Genevieve; and four brothers, John, Gale, Dale, and Dwight Kelly.
A Homegoing service will be held at Montezuma United Methodist Church on Thursday March 23, 2017 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Javier Martinez presiding. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Montezuma. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Montezuma on Wednesday March 22, 2017 from noon to 8:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 5-7 PM.
