Katie Webb, 78 years old, passed away on November 17th, 2015 at the Manor of the Plains in Dodge City. 
Catherine Fredericka Hogue was born on February 12, 1936 in Goodland Kansas to Sid and Tempa (Taylor) Hogue. She graduated from Goodland High School in 1954. In 1954 she enrolled at Fort Hays State University to pursue a nursing career. 
In 1956, Katie married Donald Webb of Lincoln and they moved to Pratt. During their time in Pratt, their three children were born; daughter Cynthia Venard, daughter Debra Bush, and son Terry Webb. In 1962 the family moved to Hutchinson . In 1964, the family moved to Dodge City where they still reside. 
In Dodge City, Katie worked for Southwestern Bell for a short time. She then enrolled at St Mary’s of the Plains College, where she earned her BS in Elementary Education. In 1969, she started teaching at Northwest Elementary School, where she taught 6th, 4th, and 1st grade for 29 years. During those years, she earned her Master’s in Education from Kansas State University. 
In 1997, Katie & Don took early retirement and traveled to historical places on the east coast with their grandchildren (5 trips total). 
Katie was actively involved in several volunteer activities; Jobs Daughters, Casa for CASA, Toys for Tots, Girl and Boy Scouts, Victory in the Valley, USD 443 Learning Center, Red Cross Blood Mobile, and collected Teddy Bears for the Sheriff’s Office and Ford County EMS. 
Preceding her in death; her parents, Sid and Tempa Hogue, an aunt, Syrena Bergsma, a brother, John Hogue and wife Barbara Werner Hogue, and grandson Josh Venard. 
Those celebrating her life; husband, Don Webb, daughter, Cindy & Don Venard, daughter, Debbie & Dean Bush, son, Terry & Micki Webb, 11 grandchildren; Eric Venard, Jackie Venard, Kathy Falcon, Jason Cox, Chelsey Cox, Megan Welsh, Chris Venard, Jeremy Webb, Nicole Swenson, Cedric Venard, Seth Bush, and 15 great-grandchildren. 
Funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Jerre Nolte presiding. Inurnment will be at a later date. Cremation has taken place and friends may sign the guest register on Friday, November 20, 2015 at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M..
