Kathleen Foster

Kathleen Foster, 90, died September 24, 2015 at Trinity Manor Nursing Home, Dodge City. She was born on November 12, 1924 near Offerle, Kansas, the daughter of Anthony J. and Lilla (Mills) Thennes. 

She grew up in the Offerle area, then moved north of Kinsley. She attended elementary school in a country school, and later attended and graduated from Kinsley High School in 1943. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Kinsley for a period. On April 19, 1953, she married Donald Foster in Kinsley. He preceded her in death on January 30, 2013. She later moved to the Sublette, Satanta area. She ironed clothes before becoming employed with J.C. Penney for sixteen years. She was a member of the Pink Ladies at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City for fifteen years, and was also a regular blood donor to the American Red Cross, giving 21 gallons of blood. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Dodge City and a member of the Builders Class, and the church extension unit. She enjoyed arts and crafts, drawing and painting, and loved square dancing, participating in that activity for thirty-five years. She also enjoyed making baby caps for Western Plains Medical Complex. 

She is survived by four sons Joe Ausmus, Dodge City, Darrell Foster, Westminster, Colorado; Douglas Foster, Yucaipa, California; and Kyle Foster, Mentone, California, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. 

Funeral service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Dodge City on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Jerre Nolte presiding. Burial will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Fort Dodge. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Monday, September 28, 2015 from Noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church or Hospice of the Prairie, both of Dodge City in care of Swaim Funeral Home, 1901 6th Avenue, Dodge City, Kansas, 67801.
