Manhattan, Kan. (K-State Sports Information)–K-State’s $75 million West Stadium Center at Bill Snyder Family Stadium will be a thing of beauty when completed next August, but for the 2012 football season fans may experience some minor inconveniences during construction.

As foundation work on the north and south towers continues, the concourse on either side of the Dev Nelson Press Box has been restricted by construction zones, reducing the area for pedestrian traffic. New concrete has been installed on the north and south concourses at a higher elevation than around the press box, resulting in the necessity for ramps and handrails for safety.

To minimize congestion and improve pedestrian flow throughout the west concourse, Athletics Department officials are urging fans to utilize the entrance gates nearest their seating locations when entering the stadium as follows:
• Fans sitting in Sections 1, 2 and 3 on the north end should enter at Gate B.
• Fans sitting in Sections 4 and 5 should enter at Gates C.
• Fans sitting in Sections 5 or 6 should enter at Gates D.
• Fans sitting in Sections 7 and 8 should enter at Gate F.
• Fans sitting in Sections 9, 10 and 11 should enter at Gate H.

“We are encouraging our fans who sit on the west side to try to take a ‘straight shot’ into their seating section,” said Casey Scott, senior associate athletics director for operations.  “For example, if fans are coming from Cat Town and normally enter Gate H (southwest corner) and then walk to their seats in Section 6, they are going to find that area of the concourse more congested than in past years.  We would ask them to instead enter Gate D to get to their seats.”

Fans are also reminded about other changes as a result of the construction.  The building that housed Cat’s Closet, First Aid and men’s and women’s restrooms has been razed and the aluminum bleachers behind Sections 2, 8 and 9 have been removed. Meanwhile, new seating for disabled patrons has been constructed at concourse level behind Sections 3 and 7.

To supplement the restrooms lost on the west side, Bramlage Coliseum will be open during games through the northwest entrance and temporary restrooms will be placed along the west Bramlage sidewalk for the convenience of fans.

Cat’s Closet will still be open for fans wishing to purchase K-State souvenirs.  A large tent has been erected on the same site as the former structure.

Entrance gates B, C, D, F and H on the west side of the stadium will remain open for this season, although Gate A has been removed during the construction of the north concourse.  Fans who utilized that entrance coming from the north side of the stadium or from the Vanier Football Complex parking lot will need to enter through the west-side gates.
