Kansas Ave Widening Project Enters Final Stage

Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) The last stage of the six-part Kansas Avenue widening project is scheduled to begin Monday.

The sixth phase is expected to last about six weeks.  The north two lanes of Kansas Avenue at the intersection of Seventh street will be closed.

Other restrictions include:

• The north lanes of Kansas Avenue will be closed, and the south will be open with traffic being restricted to two lanes. One lane will carry traffic east, and the other will carry traffic west.

• The south half of the intersection of Seventh Street and Kansas Avenue will be open. 

• No left turns will be available.

• Right-in/Right-out access only.

Also, all points of access will be allowed throughout the project and the alleys.

Widening of Kansas Avenue between Main and Third streets began in March. The widening project is being funded by both Garden City and the Kansas Department of Transportation.
