Kansans For Justice Makes Case For Removing Four KS Supreme Court Judges
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Two years ago the Kansas Supreme Court overturned the murder sentences of the Carr brothers from Wichita and instead imposed a life sentence on the men who killed five back in 2000. Thursday night Kansans for Justice makes their case in Garden City on why the four justices should not be retained in a vote November 8th.
Amy James is President of Kansans for Justice and knew the victims well including Brad Heyka of Dodge City. She is leading the grassroots group for removal of the justices.
The event begins at 7 Thursday night from the Garden City Community College Academic Hall.
James refutes concerns that removing these justices would give the governor too much power in finding replacements.
And what about respecting separation of powers?
The retention vote has drawn a lot of chatter and public appearances from both sides of the issue.
