K-State fans flock to Scott City for annual K-State Fry

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–For 56 years, the Scott City stop of the Kansas State Catbacker Tour has been one of the more popular stops. After a great turnout on Tuesday in Garden City, the annual K-State Fry drew over 300 fans from western Kansas to the grounds of HRC Feedyard west of Scott City.

This was the fourth of six stops this week, with, the tour continuing to Colby tomorrow and Hays on Friday. They were also in Liberal earlier in the day.

During the evening, coaches and athletes from the K-State Athletic department spoke about their programs, and reflected back on this past season, as well as the future. Those who spoke included head Women’s Basketball Coach Jeff Mittie, Men’s Basketball Coach Bruce Weber, and new Football Coach Chris Klieman. Athletes from Women’s Soccer, Men’s Basketball and Football spoke, including quarterback Skylar Thompson, tackle Scott Frantz, safety Denzel Goolsby, defensvie end Wyatt Hubert, and Holcomb native Blake Richmeier.

Also emceeing the event was the Voice of the Wildcats Wyatt Thompson, who has been the voice of the Wildcats for the past 17 seasons.

Several items were auctioned off with proceeds going to the athletic department.
