Judy Marie Ricke
Judy Marie Ricke, 67, died October 31, 2015 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. She was born on March 27, 1948 at Scott City, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph and Serena (Rodenberg) Schoonover.
She was raised in Scott City, and graduated from Scott City High School in 1965. She attended Dodge City Community College and graduated with an associates degree in cosmetology. On February 14, 1970, she married Allan Ricke at Dodge City. She worked as a cosmetologist at the Pioneer Beauty Salon in Dodge City from 1965 until 1972. She later opened Lydias’ Closet along with her aunt and sister. She was later employed with Bright Beginnings, Dodge City. She was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She had also been active in 4-H club while her children were growing up. She enjoyed attending auctions and collecting antiques, was a participant in “Kansas Walk” and enjoyed her YMCA exercise group. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her time with her family was her most cherished moments.
She is survived by her husband Allan Ricke, Dodge City, son Shea Ricke and wife Samantha, Wright, daughter Jola Miller and husband Brian, son Beau Ricke and wife Kimberly, foster daughter Julie Stegman and husband Tony, and sister, Jan Morrow, all of Dodge City, sister Karen Crist and husband Skip, Garden City, six grandchildren, Jayden and Juliet Miller, Kye and Kohl Ricke, Lawson and Taylor Ricke, many nieces and nephews and her much loved cat Butterfly. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Serena Schoonover, and sister Ruth Ann Schoonover.
Celebration of Life service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Dodge City, on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Randall Jahnke presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. A book signing will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. There will no viewing as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Dodge City, in care of the funeral home.
