John E. Wagner, 78, died Friday, January 29, 2016 at his home in Dodge City. 

He was born August 29, 1937 at Dodge City, the son of Ralph Lee and Elsie D. (Davis) Wagner. A lifetime area resident, he was a graduate of Cimarron High School, Dodge City Community College and Wichita State University. He owned and operated Wagner Accounting and Wagner Real Estate in Cimarron for many years. 

He served in the United States Army attaining the rank of Sergeant. 

He was a member of the Cimarron United Methodist Church, served as Mayor of the City of Cimarron for 4 years, Cimarron City Council for 15 years, Administrative Board of the Cimarron United Methodist Church and City Library Board for 1 term. 

He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Ensign, Knights Templar, Royal Arch Masons, Eastern Star, Midian Shrine Temple, Howard Gotschall VFW Post 1714, Dodge City, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Experimental Aircraft Association, Public Accountants Association of Kansas and Kansas Association of Realtors. 

He was married to Sue Davidson from June 1958 to March 1970 and Lynne Ogles from January 1972 to September 1981. On July 20, 2010 he married Teri Glassco. 

Survivors include: his loving wife Teri, of the home; 3 sons, David Wagner and wife Lisa, Cimarron, Sean Wagner and wife Janae, Kingman and Michael Ogles and wife Jennifer, Cimarron; his daughter, Nicole Ott and husband Ryan, Wichita; sons, Nick Powers and wife Shannon, Manhattan, Kansas and Nathan Powers, Dodge City; and 8 grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his half brother, Ralph L. Wagner, II in 1985 and his sister, Dee Piculell in 2014. 

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the Cimarron United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Keating officiating. Burial will follow in the Cimarron Cemetery with military honors by Military Honors for the State of Kansas. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 2, 2016 from noon to 8:00 pm with the family present from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Cimarron.
