John B. Shipe, 66, died May 22, 2015 at Point Lookout Nursing Home in Branson, Missouri. He was born on February 2, 1949 at Dodge City, the son of Glenn A. and Hildred (Sagerty) Shipe. He grew up in Dodge City and graduated from Dodge City High School. He later attended Ft. Hays State College and also National College of Business in Rapid City, South Dakota. He served in the United States Marine Corps from June of 1970 thru May of 1973. John worked and lived in the Branson, Missouri area. In his adult years, John was a skilled brick mason. His notable projects were in the Branson and Springfield, Missouri area. One project was the large stone fireplace at the entrance to Bass Pro Shop in Springfield, Missouri. Another project was the 2 story rock fireplace in the Keeter Center at The College of the Ozarks. 

In 1967, John was the National Little Britches “All-Around” Champion for the Sr. Boys Division. 

John is survived by a son, Josh Shipe, Gloucester, Virginia; two sisters, Cindy Bartlett, and Rita Brychta both of Manhattan; three brothers, Danny Shipe, Spearville, Doug Shipe, Dodge City and Greg Shipe, Eudora; a grandson and a granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-mother, Rosemary Mann Nelson Shipe. 

Graveside services will be held at Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery, Ft. Dodge, Kansas 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 5, 2015 with Mr. Jeff Hiers officiating. Military graveside rites will be presented by Howard Gotschall Post # 1714, V.F.W. and Kansas KSARNG. Cremation has taken place and friends may sign the guest book at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City on Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M..
