Johanna K. Patterson
Johanna K. Patterson, 91 died Thursday, November 19, 2015 at her home in Nelson, Nebraska. She was born July 19, 1924 in McCracken, Kansas the daughter of Andrew A. & Monica Anastasia (Herrman) Meier.
Johanna lived most of her life in Southwest Kansas. On April 6, 1943 she married John William Patterson in Garden City. A homemaker, Johanna enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church of Garden City, the Daughters of Isabella, Altar Society, and EHU.
Survivors include a son Michael A. Patterson of Hebron, Ne.; five daughters Constance & husband Russell Ginest of Hutchinson, Ks., Victoria J. & husband Robert Jones of Hutchinson, Ks., Paula M. Kinkade of Nelson, Ne., Kathleen E. & husband Mel Herschberger of Russell Springs, Ks., and Johnita M. Patterson & husband Jim Hunt of Mahaska, Ks.; a brother Andrew Meier of Encinitas, Ca.; two sisters Frances Gossett of Flagstaff, Az. And Elaine Locke of Waurika, Ok.;
13 grandchildren; and 37 great grandchildren. Johanna is preceded in death by her husband, John who died on December 1, 2008. She is also preceded in death by her parents; 3 sons John W. Patterson, Jr., Charles A. Patterson, and Patrick A. Patterson; 7 brothers Nick Meier, Matt Meier, Bernard Meier, Bob Meier, Leonard Meier, Jack Meier, and Virgil Meier; and 3 sisters Shirley Council, Irene Dietz, and Josephine Walker.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City with Fr. Reginald A. Urban as presider. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. There will be no calling hours. The family requests memorials given to Tabitha Hospice of Lincoln, Nebraska or to the Dominican Sisters of Peace of Great Bend both in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
