Jill Liz’beth Kelman

Jill Liz’beth Kelman, 56, died December 22, 2015 in Sublette. She was born on October 17, 1959 in Concordia, the daughter of Norman and Helen (Larson) Sankey. 

Jill was raised in Republic. She graduated from Bellville High School and went on to further her education at Kansas State University. Jill graduated from K-State with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture and Horticulture. On November 27, 1982, she married Roger Kelman in Scandia at the Lutheran Church. They moved to Sublette and raised their two sons, Hayes and Clark. 

Jill loved so many things in nature. She enjoyed being outdoors in the mountains or at home on the farm. Travel, music, art, and different cultural experiences were other hobbies she had. Jill was a free spirit and a loving and caring person who will be remembered for her willingness to help someone that was in need. Her greatest love was her sons. She enjoyed being at their activities when they were younger and being a part of their lives as they went on to new adventures. 

Jill is survived by her husband Roger of Sublette; two sons, Hayes Kelman and Shelby Hill of Sublette and Clark Kelman and Julie McGlothlin of Durango, Colorado; one sister, Julie Dietz and husband Charlie of Republic; three nieces, Emilee Moreland and husband Shawn, Brittan Potucek and husband Daniel, and Hilary Kelman; one nephew, David Kelman and wife Shannon; and many other family and friends.She is preceded in death by her parents and her father and mother in-law, Jack and Kay Kelman. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Sublette Methodist Church on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Eddie Pennington presiding. Friends may sign the guest book at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Sublette on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from noon – 8:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Salvation Army, Haskell County Food Bank, Emmaus House, or Manna House in care of the funeral home.
