Jerry Tanking
Gerald “Jerry” Tanking, 75, of Liberal, passed away on Tuesday March 20, 2018 at the V.A. Hospital in Amarillo, TX.
He was born on February 27, 1943 to Alfred and Catherine (Runnebaum) Tanking at Seneca, KS.
On May 16, 1970 he married Jill Randall at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal, KS; she survives.
Jerry was a graduate of the St. Peter & Paul Catholic School in Seneca, KS. Jerry was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed raising livestock and crops, helping other local farmers and was an avid hunter and was the owner of Sands Motel for Yellow Freight in Liberal.
He was also a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and a member of the ELKS, American Legion, VFW. Jerry was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal.
Jerry is also survived by his Two Sons-Terry Tanking and Kim of Liberal, KS, Todd Tanking and wife Mandy of Liberal, KS; Five Grandchildren- Kaleb Tanking, Ridge Tanking, Skyler Lee, Jaden Lee, and Jett Brown. One Brother- Elmer Tanking of Tonganoxie, KS; Three Sisters- Alda Frey of Chandler, AZ, Eileen Meyers of Sabetha, KS and Jeri Ann Matzke of Silver Lake, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents and Two Brothers- Johnny Tanking and Regis Tanking.
Viewing will be 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm Friday, March 23, 2018, at Miller Mortuary, Liberal, KS.
Vigil Rosary Service will be at 5:00 pm Friday March 23, 2018 at the Miller Mortuary Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the St Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Liberal City Cemetery.
