Jerry grew up in Lane County and attended Dighton High School. After completing school he worked on farms for Max Stanley and Arle Thomas before acquiring his own farm and becoming a farmer-stockman. In 1986 he moved to Garden City where he managed rentals and also worked as a Pumper for Crown Consulting of Liberal. In 2004 he moved back to Dighton. His hobby was his work and especially being around the cattle in the pasture. He was preceded in death by his Parents & 3 Brothers- Jim Erskin, Dale Erskin & Joe E. Erskin.
