Jeffery Allen Flax

Jeffery Allen Flax, 48, died March 4, 2017at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. He was born September 19, 1968 in Ransom, Kansas, the son of Herman and Joan (Graf) Flax. 

After high school graduation in 1987 he moved to Dodge City. He worked for Southwest Livestock, Mueting Nursery and was the owner of J & M Lawn Service for many years. During the winter months he worked for Ripple and Liebl Vet Clinic and the Vet barn at Winter Livestock Sale Barn. He loved working with cattle. On November 21, 1992 he married Michele Vice in Dodge City at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and The Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe both of Dodge City. He loved to watch the NFL, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed watching football games every weekend with his buddies in the garage. He never knew a stranger. 

He is survived by his wife Michele of Dodge City; three sons: Brennen and girlfriend Amber and her daughter Samantha of Kalvesta, Tanner and Hunter of the home; mother Joan of Wakeeney; five brothers: Kenny and wife Elaine of Gove, Terry and wife Troyette of Ransom, Kevin of Ransom, Brad and wife Barbie of Dodge City, and Brian and wife Ashley of Lindsborg; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and his extended family. He was preceeded in death by his dad Herman. 

Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City on Thursday March 9, 2017 from 12pm to 4pm. Vigil service will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Dodge City on Thursday March 9, 2017 at 7pm. Funeral mass will be held at the church on Friday March 10, 2017 at 10:30am with Father Aneesh Parappanuttu presiding. Burial will follow at Greencrest Cemetery in Dodge City.
