Jefferson County North Pulls Away From Meade Girls
Manhattan, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The defending Class 2A State Champions flexed their muscles Thursday afternoon, as they would end Meade’s season with a 62-42 victory to advance to the semi-finals in Manhattan.
Meade hung tough for a majority of the game. Despite trailing, the Lady Buffaloes were down 20-12 after the first period and 29-21 at the break. The Chargers would open the game up with a 17-12 third quarter run and would cruise to the 2A semi’s with a 20-point victory. Meade closes their season at 14-9, and were led by Bailey Olivera with 15 points. Jefferson County North (22-2) finished with Jacee Kramer with 32 points, and Heather Polson added 15 points.
Jefferson County North advances to the semi-finals Friday, and will face Moundridge, who fought off Northern Heights 54-38. Smith Center advanced on with a 61-35 win over Sedan, and Sterling filled the final semi-final spot with a 63-47 victory over Republic County.
