Jeanne L. Loewen, 68, died April 23, 2015 at Bethel Home in Montezuma. She was born on September 28, 1946 at Garden City, the daughter of Roy F. and Velda M. (Vath) Tinkum. 

Jeanne was raised on the family farm southwest of Cimarron. She attended Cimarron schools, graduating from Cimarron High School in 1964. Jeanne went on to attend the University of Kansas for two years. On August 13, 1966, she married Rudy Loewen Jr. in Cimarron. He survives. They moved to Montezuma in August of 1970. Jeanne started working at the Montezuma Press in 1975. In 1979, Rudy and Jeanne bought the Press and Jeanne was the editor for 36 years. Jeanne was an avid KU fan and enjoyed reading and cooking. Much of her time was spent following her children’s activities and later her grandchildren’s activities. She was also extremely active in the community. 

She was a member of the Montezuma United Methodist Church and UMW. She served on various church committees as well. 

In addition to her husband Rudy, Jeanne is also survived by a daughter, Bobie Davis and husband Mike of Montezuma; a son, Jon Loewen and wife Donna of Ulysses; six grandchildren, Kolin, Jenson, and Sydlin Loewen of Ulysses and Ashley, Brock and Ian Davis of Montezuma; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Jody Woodward. 

Funeral service will be held at South Gray High School Gymnasium in Montezuma on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 2:30 PM. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Montezuma. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Montezuma on Monday, April 27, 2015 from noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Methodist Church or Gray County EMS in care of the funeral home.
