Jay Doris

Jay Doris, 74, died Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at the Lane County Long Term Care Unit in Dighton. He was born October 12, 1940 in Dighton to parents Cecil L. & Louise Matilda (Wilkens) Doris. He married Lois Jean (Barker) Hemel on November 19, 1971 in Dighton.
She died March 31, 2011.

Jay was raised in Dighton, graduating from Dighton High School in 1958. He attended business school in Denver and worked for Caterpillar Corporation. Jay returned to Dighton in the early 60’s and bought the Standard gas station. He purchased the Conoco station in the early 70’s. Jay was a certified instructor for EMS and Paramedic training. He helped start the Lane County Ambulance Service and after the sale of the Conoco in 1985, he worked for 4 years with Finney County EMS. He then went to work for Seward County EMS as an EMICT, retiring in March of 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jean and a sister, Nina Jo Furrow.
