Janneal Rambo Wright

Janneal Rambo Wright passed away August 6, 2015, at Wheatlands Health Care Center in Kingman, Kansas. She was born October 20, 1932, in Laverne, Oklahoma, to J. Les Rambo and Ula Joy Sumpter Rambo. Her husband, JC Wright, and her parents preceded Janneal in death. 

Graduating from high school at Laverne in May 1950, she went on to further her education at Panhandle A&M College in Goodwell, Oklahoma, where she met JC “Jake” Wright. 

Janneal and Jake were married in Clayton, New Mexico, on September 3, 1952. Soon after, Jake was drafted into the U.S. Army. Janneal continued her education and graduated in July 1956 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce. After graduation, she and Jake moved on to teach in Sweetwater, Oklahoma, where Janneal taught for the following nine years. Jake continued teaching, coaching and school administration at Sweetwater until 1978. 

After two more moves to Davidson and Depew, Oklahoma, Janneal and Jake moved to Laverne, which allowed them to be closer to Janneal’s mother Joy. They also were active members of the First Christian Church while living in Laverne. Although Janneal retired from her teaching career, her hands were never idle. She loved knitting, sewing, baking, oil painting, and creating assorted works of art. Today, her gifts of oil paintings still adorn many family members’ walls. 

In later years, she returned to her love of knitting, making baby caps for newborns; hundreds of which were given as gifts to friends, family and anyone in need – a testament to her giving nature. 

In more recent years, Janneal knew her memory was failing, but she never forgot to remind her family, “Someday, we will all be together,” and she always would include those who had passed on before. Janneal is loved, and she is missed. Janneal is survived by two sisters: Macil Bracksieck, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Leslie Earnst and her husband W. C. Earnst, Livingston, Texas; and one brother, Rodney Rambo and his wife JoAnn Rambo, Englewood, Kansas; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. A memorial service is to be held for Janneal and JC Wright at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2015, at the First Christian Church in Laverne, Oklahoma.
