James R. Collier, 54 died Sunday, November 13, 2016 at his home in Garden City. He was born October 20, 1962 in Bishop, California the son of William Henry & Ann D. (Paris) Collier.
James moved with his family to Spencer, Nebraska when he was a child. He attended school in Spencer and graduated from high school there. James then lived in various places before moving to Garden City in the early 1990’s. He has lived in Garden City since. James was first married to Monica Lynn Howard. Later, he married Barbara Ford. A welder, James worked for 
J & W Millwright/ Earnest and Spencer and later for Ameripride Industries. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW both of Garden City. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and was an avid fan of the Oakland Raiders.  
Survivors include a daughter Tara Collier of Garden City, Kansas; a son Zach Halstead of Cheyenne, Wyoming; 3 brothers Bill Collier of Lincoln, Nebraska, Bob Collier of New Port Richey, Florida, and Trent Collier of Omaha, Nebraska; 2 sisters Diane Collier of Souix Falls, South Dakota and Trish Marcellus of Lincoln, Nebraska; and a grandson. James is preceded in death by Mother and a son Kenneth James Collier.
A memorial service to celebrate James’ life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Fred’s Place in Garden City. A private family interment will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours. The family request memorials given to the James Collier Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
