Jack D. Immroth, 69 died Thursday, January 7, 2016 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born July 29, 1946 in Dodge City, Kansas the son of Eldon Francis & Doris Faye (Davis) Immroth.
Jack lived with his family in Cimarron, Kansas. As a young child, he moved with his family to Garden City and has lived in Garden City since. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1964. Jack served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from September of 1964 to March of 1967. He returned to Garden City and worked most of his life for the Kansas Department of Transportation. He began working as a mechanic and retired from KDOT in 2010 as a heavy equipment operator. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #2279 in Garden City. Jack enjoyed woodworking, working on his pickup and NASCAR.
On September 22, 1989 he married Linda L. Wren in Garden City. She survives. Other survivors include seven children David & wife Shaula Koch of Broken Arrow, Ok., Becky & husband Tom Rawling of Las Vegas, Nv., Michelle & husband Kurt Snyder of Cimarron, Ks., Debbie & husband Danny Smith of Lakin, Ks., Joe & wife Michelle Koch of Larned, Ks., Melissa & husband Jeff Moore of Ingalls, Ks., and Mike McMillen of Garden City, Ks.; two sisters Sharon Jameson of Garden City, Ks. and Donna Powell of Sublette, Ks.; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Jack is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson Daniel Glaze.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2016 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City with Pastor Richard Deimund officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. There will be no calling hours. The family requests memorials given to the Disabled American Veterans in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
