Iona R. Gilger

Iona R. Gilger, 84 of Garden City died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at her home in Garden City. She was born December 7, 1929 in Delta, Colorado the daughter of Dan & Alberta (Hill) Kehmeier.

Iona lived most of her life in the Eckert, Colorado area. She grew up and attended school in Eckert. In June 1946 she married Harolson R. Gilger in Eckert, Colorado. A homemaker, Iona enjoyed reading. After moving to Garden City in the early 1980’s, Iona attended Pierceville Federated Church.

Survivors include a daughter Kathy McGraw of Garden City; two sons Ralph & wife Judy Gilger of Sandy, Utah and Steve and wife Bev Gilger of Dubois, Utah; a brother Fletcher “Bob” Kehmeier of Eckert, Co; a sister Elanor Kehmeier of Delta, Co; 6 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Iona is preceded in death by her husband Harolson who died in 1972. She is also preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers Alan Kehmeier, Bill Kehmeier, and Kay Kehmeier; and 2 sisters Dorothy Kehmeier and Helen Fooshe.
