Informational Session for Fort Hays State University’s RN to BSN Program

Dodge City, KS- Employers and potential students from Southwest Kansas participated in an Informational Session for Fort Hays State University’s RN to BSN Program in Dodge City on Thursday, March 5th.  The Dodge City/Ford County Development Corporation, Rural Education & Workforce Alliance, Fort Hays State University and Western Plains Medical Complex partnered to allow employers and potential students interested in the RN to BSN Program to receive information about the courses that will begin at Hennessy Hall in Fall 2020.  Dr. Tanya Smith and Dr. Jenny Manry discussed the benefits of getting a BSN, RN to BSN courses needed, program requirements, clinical requirements and how to apply for the Dodge City Hybrid Program.  

The purpose of the RN to BSN Informational Session was to allow for employers, students and current RN’s to be exposed to the details of this hybrid program.  The Dodge City Hybrid Program is a one of kind program that allows for students to take online courses, but still receive face to face support from instructors.  “We are thrilled with this initial response and hope that employers will strongly consider assisting employees in continuing their education as we gain access to programs such as this, that will fill the workforce gaps” says Executive Director of Dodge City/Ford County Development Corporation, Joann Knight.  “Our concept of The University Center is to work with the Universities across the state to provide a blended mix of delivery of courses that enhance the community college degrees and meet our workforce needs”.

The RN to BSN Program will be launching in Fall 2020 out of Hennessy Hall, and in five frontier communities via Zoom including Elkhart, Tribune, Scott City, St. John, and Jetmore.
