Icy roads to blame in fatality accident in Ford County

Ford County, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–A Dodge City man died in a two-vehicle accident just before 6:30 pm Saturday night in Ford County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that a 2019  International semi driven by 58-year-old Tirso Sataray-Parra of Las Vegas, Nevada was eastbound on U.S. Highway 56, two miles east of the U.S. Highway 56/U.S. Highway 283 junction, when the semi jackknifed due to icy conditions, and the trailer struck a westbound 2017 Toyota Tacoma driven by 28-year-old Bernabe E. Rincon of Dodge City.

Rincon was prounounced deceased at the scene. Passenger in the Toyota, 27-year-old Angel Ramirez, was transported to St. Catherine’s Hospital for injuries. Sataray-Parra was not injured.

The KHP report stated that all three were wearing seatbelts, and the report did not release a hometown for Ramirez.
