Hutchinson explodes for nearly 700 yards, wears down Dodge City
DODGE CITY – Hutchinson’s offense erupted for nearly 700 yards of offense Saturday behind future Alabama receiver Malik Benson and star back Dylan Kedzior, and pounded Dodge City 47-14 at Memorial Stadium.
The second-ranked Blue Dragons racked up 296 yards on the ground and another 393 through the air. Kedzior ran for 117 and a touchdown on his own.
Benson caught seven passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns, including a tone-setting 80-yard catch-and-score 10 minutes into the game.
Dodge City quarterback Grant Ciccarone had one of his best performances of the season, completing 22-of-39 passes for 258 yards and two scores. He played the entire game with De’Rhon King sidelined with a shoulder injury he suffered last week at Garden City.
Javon Campbell led the Conqs with five grabs for 86 yards. Jalen Rose Hannah added two touchdown catches.
The Blue Dragons won their sixth straight against Dodge City and their 12th consecutive game overall, which is the third-longest streak in program history.
Dodge City falls to 2-4 with the loss and 1-3 in KJCCC play.
The Conquistadors return to action next Saturday when they host Ellsworth in their annual homecoming game at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.
