Hugoton Girls Basketball Team: Ready for Opener

Hugoton, KS (westernkansasnews.com) There is a high level of excitement for the Hugoton girls basketball team as they begin the 2014-15 season Friday night at home against Syracuse. Last year the Lady Eagles reached state for the first time since 1993. Now third year head coach Andy Gillen wants his team to set their sights higher.

Two of the team’s top three scorers from last year’s team were freshman. Coach Gillen is hopeful this year’s team brings the right mix of youth and experience.

Gillen’s new players included 5-10 post player JoHanna Rawlins.  She is expected to help the Eagles with their lack of size. Pre-game coverage begins at 6:15. Girls tip at 6:30. Boys game follows on Hits 106 and westernkansasnews.com.
