Hugoton Rolls to Big Wins Over Colby
Hugoton, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The Hugoton boys and girls basketball team dominated their games Friday night and closed out the conference schedule at home with a 76-22 win in the girls game and 71-46 in the boys game.
Girls Highlights
The girls won their ninth in a row and allowed the fewest points in a game all year. Fresh off Tuesday night’s win in Ulysses that gave them the GWAC championship their first conference title since 1991 Hugoton picked up the pace slowly and finally kicked in gear.
Hugoton led 43-6 at half and won by 54 thanks to the strength of outside shooting from Amy Scott who 5-6 on three point shots for 23 points. Katy Heger added another 20 point performance against Colby and Stef Arrmendariz had a season high 14. Hannah Strange led Colby (8-10, 4-5) with six points.

The girls go for the undefeated conference season Tuesday night in Holcomb. Hugoton is still looking to wrap up the top seed in substate over Pratt.
Boys Highlights
For the boys, Parker Titus led four Hugoton (13-5, 6-3) players in double figures with 16 Zack Leininger added 14 and kept possessions alive with his battle on the boards. Hugoton who had a seven point advantage at half 30-23 pulled away outscoring Colby 21-11 in the third quarter. Chandler Comfort led Colby in scoring with 13 including two three point buckets. With the loss Colby remains winless on the season at 0-18.
