House Selects New Leadership; Hineman New Majority Leader
Topeka, KS (westernkansasnews.com)Republicans in the state house have selected their new leadership. Representative Ron Ryckman, Junior of Olathe beat Russ Jennings of Lakin for the speaker’s post 57-28. Ryckman’s father is from Meade and served in the House with his son until the end of this year’s term.
Don Hineman of Dighton narrowly defeated John Barker of Abilene 44-41 to become House Majority Leader. The belief is having someone in leadership from Western Kansas will keep the legislature cognizant on the state’s rural issues.
