Home cooking pays off; GCHS soccer blows out TMP Hays
Garden City, Kan (westernkansasnews)-All Buffalo fans can say is it’s about time.
For the first time all season, Garden City girls soccer dawned their home jerseys in a 5-0 win over TMP Hays Tuesday afternoon at Buffalo Stadium.
“As I always say, soccer is won in the midfield,” Coach Josue Negron said. “We did well in that aspect today.”
The Last time Negron and Joaquin Padilla coached a home soccer game-last fall in a playoff match against Lawrence Free State. This was long overdue. So it came as no surprise how quickly Garden City got off the mats-scoring in the 14th minute on Tiffany Butler’s unassisted goal.
The next few minutes belonged to Amber Miller, who scored two goals in a span of three minutes before Megan Martinez capped the first-half scoring with an unassisted score in the 29th minute.
Miller tacked on her third goal of the night in the 66th minute capping the scoring.
