Holton Wins Class 4A State Wrestling Tournament; Hugoton’s Weaver Second

Salina, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Ranked as the ninth team in Class 4A heading into the state tournament, the Holton Wildcats surprised the field to win the 2013 Class 4A State Wrestling Tournament at Salina’s Bi-Centennial Center. The Wildcats edge Colby, who finished runner-up for a second straight season. Andale placed third. Hugoton’s Patrick Weaver was the highest area placer, finishing second at 145 pounds. He was one of two Eagles to place. At 152 pounds, Lawson Fiss finished in fifth place. Ulysses had two placers. Armando Sandoval took fifth at 182 pounds and Otto Orosco was fifth at 220 pounds.
