Holcomb wins Scott City Volleyball Invitational

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–In a balanced tournament in Scott City on Saturday, it was the Holcomb Longhorns that claimed the 2014 Scott City Invitational Tournament, as they ended up being the lone undefeated team of the tournament. 

In fact, Holcomb had to face Dodge City twice on their way to the win. The Lady Longhorns defeated the Lady Red Demons in pool play and in the championship game. Wheatland/Grinnell also defeated Scott City twice, once in pool play, and then in the third place match. Both of those matches went to three sets. The Lady Beavers were finally able to play on their home court for the first time this year. They recorded wins in their first two matches, before dropping the pool championship, semi-finals and third place matches in competitive battles.

Scott City will also host the Great West Activities Conference tournament on Saturday at 9 am, and will host the Class 3A Sub-State Tournament on Saturday, October 25.
