Holcomb, Hugoton boys tie for 4th, barely miss out on trophy
Wichita, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–While the Holcomb and Hugoton boys had a good weekend overall, both the Longhorns and Eagles placed fourth overall in the Class 4A State Track & Field Championships in Wichita on Friday and Saturday. Buhler won the boys meet with 53 points, while KC-Piper was second with 40 and Andale came in third with 34.5 points. Both Holcomb and Hugoton were just a half of a point behind the Indians for the third place trophy.
On the girls side, Andale outlasted Paola by a score of 90-74, and McPherson was in a distant third with 44 points. Ulysses had two entries, and did not place in the top eight in either category. Holcomb and Hugoton’s girls teams did not qualify for state in any events.
