Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The problem has been identified and halting this trend is vital to the future of education in Southwest Kansas. USD 457 in Garden City wants to do all it can to retain teachers in the district.

Deputy Superintendent Heath Hogan says a panel will look at this issue more closely.

Hogan explains what they already know about the current problem from exit surveys done.

Typically turnover is 12-20 percent which is in line with other school districts around the area.  The panel is conducting focus groups now and will determine from the results how they want to proceed.
