Henry H. “Hank” Rupke

Henry H. “Hank” Rupke, 92, died Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Hays Medical Center in Hays. He was born April 23, 1922 at Long Island, Kansas to parents William & Hattie (Konjar) Rupke. He married to Bernita Clary on August 21, 1948 at Norton

He was a member of  Harry H. Renick American Legion Post # 9 of Garden City and John J. Haskell VFW Post # 2279 of Garden City.

Hank served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he was assigned to the 5th Amphibious Ranger Corp in the Pacific. After his discharge he moved to Phillipsburg and started working for Kansas Nebraska Natural Gas Company. He was transferred to Lakin in 1954 and retired in 1984 after 41 years in the pipeline department for the gas company. He enjoyed hunting and building things for his wife to paint and sell at craft shows. He was preceded in death by his Parents, an infant son, 1 Sister- Josaphene DeWild, 5 Brothers- Clarence, Richard, Melvin, Henry I & Ivan & and an infant grandson.
