Helen Louise Mazelin

Helen Louise Mazelin was born on December 23, 1932, to Enoch and Emma (Mazelin) Habegger at Berne, Indiana. She peacefully passed away in the early morning hours of January 11, 2016 at the age of eighty-three years, two weeks and five days at Bethel Home in Montezuma, after a period of declining health.

Mother was a quiet, gentle person, with a heart of compassion and love and an unwavering faith in God, through difficult times in her life, often expressing her feeling of unworthiness for what God had done for her. She was a hard worker and was always ready and willing to reach out and help those in need. She enjoyed cooking and baking, often sharing what she made, with others.

Mother had a deep concern for the spiritual welfare of her children and grandchildren, often admonishing us to fear the Lord and serve Him faithfully. She was a good example for us to follow.

After a period of deep searching for spiritual rest, Mother found forgiveness of sins and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, on April 18,1971, by Min. Frank Unruh. This faith was very precious to her and she remained true and faithful to her vows until God called her home.

On June 20, 1954, Mother was joined in marriage to our father, Frank Mazelin. Our parents shared the joys and sorrows of life for fifty-five years, until God called Dad home on July 6, 2009. To this union were born three sons and six daughters.

Surviving with precious memories are her children, Marie and Alton Boehs, Leland, Mississippi, Naomi and Eric Koehn, Grafton, North Dakota, Daniel and Julie Mazelin, Cole Camp, Missouri, Virginia and David Shetler, Fredricksburg, Ohio, Esther and Sheldon Koehn, Brookston, Texas, Paul Mazelin, Cole Camp, Missouri and wife Beth, Winton, California, Peter and Abby Mazelin, Clarksdale, Mississippi, Mary and Brent Schneider, Grifton, North Carolina; twenty six grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary and Mose Troyer, Olive Hill, Tennessee, Agnes and Fred Schrock, Monterey, Tennessee. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, one infant daughter, one infant great-granddaughter, two infant brothers and one infant sister.

We as a family would like to express our thanks and appreciation for the good care given to our mother during her stay at Bethel Home.

Funeral service will be held at the Oakridge Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Cole Camp, Missouri on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at 10:30 AM. with Minister DeeWayne Koehn presiding. Burial will follow at Oakridge Congregational Cemetery in Cole Camp. Visitation will be at Bethel Home in Montezuma on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. and at Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp on Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
