Heated Debate in Legislative Committee
Topeka, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The Kansas bill that has sparked the greatest passion on both sides pits religious freedom versus the rights of the individual. The proposal would prohibit suing people such as a photographer, florist or even adoption agency from refusing to serve same sex couples. Representative Bud Estes says this issue is not so cut and dry.
The real concern is that it forces people who claim a religious objection to prove how religious they are.
The committee is suppose to resume work on the bill today.
