Hearing About Both Sides of the Core
Topeka, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The House Education Committee was the center of attention this week in Topeka. The panel heard from both sides on Common Core and whether the standards should continue to be used in Kansas. Representative John Ewy of Jetmore in the end was not persuaded to end Common Core.
Ewy believes that we are on the right track when it comes to allowing each of our students to reach their potential.
Avey who sits on the House Educational Committee would have like to have heard more debate on “Common Core” last week. Those called to testified were limited to about 90 seconds each. It is unclear whether the drive to end Common Core will even make it out of committee to the House floor for debate.
