Topeka, KS (westernkansasnews.com) KanCare is a program through medicaid designed  to help give healthcare for those who otherwise could not afford it.  A committee held hearings on KanCare last week.  Representative Dave Crum of Butler County chaired the hearing.

Crum believes offering more preventative services can help the program turnaround.

KanCare has seen a significant change over the last couple of years.  Governor Brownback turned over direct involvement of the program over to three private companies.  Representative Crum highlights the major challenge they face in moving the program forward.

Crum credits the Department of Aging and Kansas Department of Health and Environment for their hard work in making sure hospital get payment for services they give through KanCare.
