Hayes to represent Scott City one final time in Kansas Shrine Bowl

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–When you think of some of the outstanding football players that Scott City has produced, Wyatt Hayes is one of those players who have made an impact on the tradition-rich program over his career. While Hayes isn’t playing football one final time, the SCHS Alum will be putting on the Columbia Blue helmet with the “SC” decal on it one final time in the 46th annual Kansas Shrine Bowl on Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Dodge City.

Hayes will be the 29th player selected to play in the Shrine Bowl from Scott City. He was a three-year starter on offense and defense, putting up over 4,000 rushing yards and 69 touchdowns for his career. Defensively, he finished with 66 tackles, seven sacks and an interception, while playing defensive end.

For Saturday’s Shrine Bowl, he will be an outside linebacker.

Hayes will be attending the University of Nebraska-Kearney, and will wrestle for the Lopers.

The West staff is made up of Hesston’s Tyson Bauerle, Dave Foster from Dodge City, Gary Guzman from Maize, Goddard’s Tom Beason, Pratt’s Jamie Cruce, Steve Wagner from Riley County, and Chris Hattabaugh from Elkhart.
