Hawkins: Bill to Mandate Body Cameras is a Bad Deal For Officers
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Beyond the millions of dollars it would cost to equip all Kansas police departments with body cameras in a bill that us moving its way through the legislature, there is also the added danger for officers to clear their name if something goes wrong.
Garden City Police Chief James Hawkins says the bill’s wording is pretty clear.
The bill mandates cameras would record at all times except when officers use the restroom and are involved in a personal matter.
