Harold E. Roberts
Harold E. Roberts, 92, of Pueblo, CO was called home on August 5, 2015. He passed away peacefully in his sleep. As a member of The First Christian Church Of Garden City he is proceeded in death by his parents, Edison and Grace Roberts of Cimmaron,KS; His loving wife Betty J. Roberts of Garden City KS; brothers and sisters Georgie, Wayne, Clarence, Geraldine and Nona Roberts of Cimmaron, KS ; daughter Vikki S. Gunderson of Garden City , KS; Son Mark S. Roberts of Cartright, OK ; Grandson Eric Gunderson of Garden City KS; great grandson Chance Gunderson of Glenwood Iowa. Survived by His twin brother Garold Roberts (Jeri)Tucson, AZ; daughter Robin L Partin (Rick) Pueblo CO, Grandchildren Richard Gunderson (Terry ) Glenwood, Iowa; Stephanie Partin Pueblo,CO; Dustin Partin Pueblo, CO ; Kevin Roberts and wife. Great grandkids Ryan and AJ Gunderson Glenwood, Iowa; Evan Roberts Colbert,OK and numerous nieces and nephews.
Harold was born at home in Cimmaron, KS to parents Grace and Edison Roberts. He was a graduate of Cimmaron High School class of 1942, where he was part of 1938-1939 Mid – Continent Champions; he was a guard and tackle for the local football team, and played forward for the basketball team. At age 16 Harold and his twin brother went to work for the rail road in Colorado as Gandy Dancers. Harold later met his future wife at a barn dance. They married 01-09-1944, and three children were born to this union; Vikki, Mark and Robin. Harold worked and retired as an auto mechanic from Burtis Motors. During his retirement he was a crossing guard for Jenny Wilson Elementry School where he worked until he moved to Pueblo West, CO. Harold spent ten years with his family in Colorado before moving to Texas to reside with more family, and Returning back to Colorado three years ago.
Harold loved bird watching while sipping coffee. He enjoyed talking about football and was a huge Bronco fan. He spent many hours reminiscing with his family, telling jokes, and enjoyed desert after every meal. Harold played guitar and was in a local band in his community in his youth, and was a Boy Scout leader with his wife early in their marriage.
Harold will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Price and Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas. Visitation will be on Sunday August 9, 2015 from 2:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be held immediately following the funeral service at Valley View Cemetery.
