Harold E. Lucas, 83, died Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Brookdale Senior Living, Dodge City, Kansas. 

He was born September 19, 1932 at Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Harvey and Edna (Whinery) Lucas. 

On November 2, 1968 he married Carol S. (Gambill) Lucas at Dodge City, Kansas. He sold cars for his father-in-law at Dave Gambill Chevy and Olds. He and Carol managed Jason’s Steak and Spirits and he owned and operated Lucas Auto Glass until his retirement. 

He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Dodge City Round-Up and enjoyed several coffee groups around town. 

Survivors include: 2 sons, David Lucas and wife Helen, Denton, Texas and Michael Lucas and wife Donna, White Sands, New Mexico; his daughter, Lori Schaffer and husband Tom, Dodge City, Kansas; brother, Jim Lucas and wife Jeannie, Cassville, Missouri; 2 sisters, Louise Horner and husband, Mike, Claremore, Oklahoma and Lois Ulrich, Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren, Lyndsey Sander and husband Austin, Michelle Schriner and husband Todd, Michael Lucas, Sarah Lucas and Eric Lucas and wife Holly; and numerous great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol on December 30, 2014, his parents, a son, Ken Lucas, a daughter, Gloria Lucas and brother, William Harvey “Cork” Lucas Jr. 

Memorial services will be 10:00 am Saturday July 2, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church, Dodge City, Kansas with Pastor Gerald Mendenhall officiating. Inurnment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City, Kansas. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday July 1, 2016 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, Kansas. 

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Miss Rodeo Kansas Pageant in honor of Harold E. Lucas, in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
