Group Contends Vote Could Restart Merger Talks

Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Dodge City Community College came close to merging with Fort Hays State last year. The trustees turned down the proposal on a 3-3 vote. That has the group “Coalition For a Better Plan” concerned about the results of Tuesday’s vote and what will drive the next college board of trustees.

Charlie Sellens with the Coaltion For a Better Plan says they are getting push back from the Alliance For Excellence.

Those closest to the matter say nothing could be further from the truth. Kent Stewart is Fort Hays Director of University Relations.

The lastest talk has been about western kansas community college beginning their own system. Stewart is aware of those discussions, but says Fort Hays has not taken a position.
