To be a Grizzly; Scott City’s Baker signs with Butler CC Baseball program
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–When you’re a talented multi-sport athlete, it’s tough to decide what sport you want to take to the next level. For Sloan Baker, it was a decision that led him to baseball. Earlier this month, the senior inked his letter of intent to play baseball for the Butler Community College Grizzlies.
A three-year starter for the Beavers, Baker has been a shortstop and one of the starting pitchers the last two seasons, after playing at second base as a sophomore. In 2015, he is batting .400 through seven games with two doubles and a triple. As a pitcher, Baker has a 3.92 ERA in 19 2/3 innings pitched.
Baker chose Butler over Colby and Garden City among others. He will also be participating in the Kansas Shrine Bowl Game on July 25 in Hays.
