Grant Approved for Southwest Chief Rail Service
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The US Department of Transportation awarded a 12.5 million dollar TIGER grant to repair several miles of track for the SW Chief. The announcement will keep rail service in our region. Help came from a number of people.
Garden City Communications Specialist Ashley Freburg added that all the cities along the line contributed to a matching fund. Now it is time to get to work.
Freburg says all the work should be completed by the end of next year.
