Governor Signs Disaster Declaration for Winter Storm
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Gov. Sam Brownback signed a State of Disaster Emergency Proclamation May 3 for 29 Kansas counties affected by recent storms.
Among the counties in the Proclamation was Finney County, Emergency Management Director Gilbert Valerio on what the proclamation means.
Damage assessments are set to begin this week to determine if there is enough damage to warrant a request for a federal disaster declaration. Valerio on if he thinks the federal declaration is possible.
Other local counties listed in the proclamation include Grant, Greeley, Hamilton, Haskell, Kearny, Lane, Scott, Stevens and Wichita.
