Goodland wins GWAC Tournamant title
Goodland, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Wrestling in their final tournaments before Regionals in two weeks, the six Great West Activities Conference members took to the mat Saturday in the GWAC League Tournament. It came down to he final head-to-head match between Colby and Goodland to determing who would win the tournament outright. Goodland won by a fall at 195, and held on for the 33-27 victory over Colby to win their first GWAC Wrestling Tournament title since 2011. Individually, Ulysses claimed four weight division champions, with Zach Miller at 120, Bryce Rodriguez at 145, Diego Maravilla at 195 and Otto Orosco at 220. Goodland had the most individual champions with six. Every team except Holcomb will be in the Class 4A Regional Tournament in Colby Febuary 21-22. The Longhorns head to WaKeeney for the 3-2-1A Regional that same day. Ulysses and Hugoton will have another dual on Thursday.
