Glenna (Kvasnicka) Schlegel

Glenna (Kvasnicka) Schlegel, 87, died Thursday, January 14, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Center, Dodge City. 

She was born November 14, 1928 at Grigston, Kansas, the daughter of Charles Everett and Thelma Opal (Chard) Kvasnicka. She was a graduate of Bunker Hill High School. A longtime Dodge City resident, moving from Wichita, she was a hostess at the Golden Pancake House and manager at Western Discount Outlet both in Dodge City and operated the American Wheels Motorcycle Club motor cross track at Wilroads. 

On April 23, 1947 she married Woodrow “Woodie” Schlegel at Rush Center. He preceded her in death on August 14, 2002. 

Survivors include: her 4 children, Galen and wife Debbie, Garden City, Robert and wife Trish, Denver, Victoria Ward and husband Barry, Eureka and Jake and wife Krista, Dodge City; 3 brothers, Chuck Kvasnicka, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Richard Kvasnicka, Oakley and Melvin Kvasnicka, Manhattan, Kansas; 2 sisters, Nancy Slotterback, Des Moines, Iowa and Charlotte Kvasnicka, Ellsworth; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. 

She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Douglas, a brother, Pvt. Farrell Kvasnicka and a sister, LaWanna Kvasnicka. 

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, with Glenna’s son-in-law, Barry Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
